It’s Time!

It’s Time!

Today is the 16th day of February, 2017 – more than 2 weeks already into the few 28 days of this 2nd month of the year, leaving it with barely 12 (twelve) days to wrap up. Just a “moment” ago, people everywhere were seen greeting Happy New Year, traveling from one part of the country to the other, celebrating, attending end-of-year parties and new year occasions, sending goodwill text messages, making calls to family and loved ones, praying and making great wishes for themselves. As usual, at this time of the year, expectations are high. People are at it again – writing down their “usual” new year resolutions which most times, get untouched throughout the year from the beginning to the end. Then, at the end of the year, blames are shifted, thousand-and-one excuses are given, people feel dejected, fingers are bitten, some feel frustrated, anxiety sets in, pressure from everywhere, people are broke, the feeling of unfulfillment is undeniable and it could get worse to envy and several other vices.

I particularly, am not the “new year resolution” type because it has had its lapses in the past. Anyways, we all know our strengths and weaknesses and I believe, we have devised the right tactics and approaches to suit our personalities perfectly, in order to excel. But I insisted on writing this piece because I strongly felt so many people needed it.

Just few days back, one of my “unknown” friends on one of the social media platforms wrote and I quote: “Hmmmmm… Thinking of where to start. 2017 has started and yet to kick off.” Like seriously? As I saw it, so many thoughts came into my head: To send a private message to him, Is he on this planet? How old is he? Is he still a teenager, perhaps a baby? How does he think? Was he thinking 2017 will wait for him to make plans or perhaps take a full nap before the time starts to tick? Why is he yet to kick off? I couldn’t help but have my mouth agape for seconds. Well, after so many thoughts, I realized my dear friend was not alone. There are so many hidden and shy people who have decided to keep their thoughts to themselves, rather than share on social media. Truly, this is the case.

Inasmuch as the year has set the ball rolling already and you are yet to define your resolutions for the year, it’s not late. Bounce on your feet and get to work! Rather than complaining about the situation of things, entertaining fear for the unknown, procrastinating your action plan, start immediately. It’s not late. Take small consistent steps daily. Remember procrastination is a killer of dreams. We all have 24 full hours in a day. What do you make out of yours? Assess and evaluate your progress and success daily. So, to that my “unknown” social media friend, get started already!

What is your passion? What is your gift? What is your area of expertise? Writing? Information Technology? Engineering? Business? Entrepreneurship? Medicine? Law? Public Speaking? The Martials? Sports? Make-up Artistry? Creative Arts? Music? Acting? The use of instruments? Carpentry? Go for it. Make more research. Read the right books. Listen to the right music. Do more of personal development. Enroll in trainings. Get challenged. Seize every opportunity. Move along with the right people. Connect with a mentor. Of course, involve God Almighty. Even if results are not coming immediately, persist. Let each passing second of your day count! You must make your stay on earth memorable and impactful. See you at the top wonderful people!

  1. Discover your interest, gift or passion and “take small consistent steps daily”. That’s the pathway to achievement as time ticks.

  2. Tick, tick says the clock, tick tick tick, what you have to do, do quick time n tide wait for no one. I celebrate you and ur prolific writing!

  3. Lovely piece of information. Time tells on productivity and any planned course of action in life, it takes a lot of commitment to follow up time.
